Favourite thing yesterday: during a break from prepping for my class I opened an old New York Times Magazine and came across the last page of an article. I was struck by the beauty of the pictures of buildings and interiors but didn't know what the article was about (was it about the buildings? the place? design? the photography?) I flipped to the beginning and discovered an architect I've never heard of before: Peter Zumthor. There is something exquisite and ineffable about his buildings and I want to learn more about him. I haven't had time to read the article (I will today) but I was just happy to look at the images yesterday. (The two photos here are of his work.)I consulted the list for references to architecture and found only two: the Tate Gallery in London and the National Gallery in Ottawa. But there are no other favourite buildings and no favourite architects at all.
